Sander Boury has spent his life immersed in the rhythm and heartbeat of music, beginning his journey as a drummer.

Later, he developed a deep passion for other instruments, including the piano and saxophone. Driven by curiosity and a desire to expand his musical horizons, he largely taught himself to master these instruments. This newfound versatility allowed him to fuse the distinct sounds of drums, piano, saxophone, and other instruments into his unique, self-composed works.

​

In the summer of 2023, Sander Boury expanded his musical vision by collaborating with Jonathan Frederix (HEISA, Peuk, and The Shovels). Jonathan brought his expertise in live percussion and drums, enriching Sander’s compositions with an extra layer of rhythmic energy. Together, through live looping and sampling, they perform Sander’s compositions—described as a cinematic, genre-blending mix with influences from neo-classical, jazz, and world music.

Sander’s debut album, Always In a Hurry For When The Time Is Right, was released in January 2025. The album was announced, among other places, on the Wonderland program on Radio 1.

In December 2025, Sander became a finalist in Soundtrack, where he also won the Audience Award.

The album was recorded in a self-built studio, featuring handcrafted drums under their own brand, Mafketeldrums (Mafketeldrums.be).

​

In the fall of 2026, his new self-released album, Stranger In My Own Head, will be released.

​

His artistic journey is further amplified by collaborations with other artists in artwork, music videos, short films, theater, and art films. He has worked with, among others, Tom Van Ryckeghem, Louise Degraeve, Wout Van Ackere, and Sebastian Josep Ferran Theuns.
